lve got a video id so desperately like 2 convert but pvAuthor doesnt recognise this file type. could anyone advise me if there is a program to convert to .mp4/.3gp (and yes i have used the search! heh heh)

TMPencoder and virtual dub. first you gotta convert the .wmv to divx .avi then you can convert it to a .3gp or .mp4 with something like pvauthor or quicktime.

sorry i dont have any experience with doing this or i would tell you how exactly to do it step by step

cheers daft punk. yet another program i will have to download over a 56k modem. took about 1hr 1/4 to download the pvAuthor trial! hopefully the program to do this will be around the same size, and not the sort of size Sorenson Squeeze 3 is - 19.1MB!

sorry i had to bump this post as ive had no luck trying to convert this file. has anyone else had any previous experience converting .wmv files. i downloaded virtualdub, but it will not let me have permission to do anything with the file...

any help would be much appreciated

Actually, there is no need to use a third-party software to convert WMV into AVI and then use PVauthor to convert to 3GP......all you need to do is to rename the WMV extension to MPG and use PVauthor to encode into MP4. That's all !!!!

Wondered if I am the first person to discover this or what

I did not want to start a new thread because of my problem so i will try my luck here.

I have some *.wmv files i would like to encode for my P990. I know that now there is Divx player and LCG ported smartmovie for UIQ 3.0... but i like SE video player just fine! For encoding i use Super and 99% of stuff is working flawlessly...

That 1% are the *.wmv files that have a strange resolution 480x490.... I dont need quality here, i dont need more than 64kbps, all i want is a picture with blank space on right and left. Kind of like DVDs only that blank space is not above and benith but exactly the opposite. I hope some knows what i am talking about.

I have tried to change aspect ratio in super, i have tried numerous things... but i always get streched picture which i do not want.

And also is it normal that .*wmv files around 10mb... take around 20 after encoding it to .*mp4?

Super will only convert .*wmv if i use option "use Direct Show".
