okay i've got a question for you all....i tried using the search but most of you guys seem to be in any other part of the world besides asia....so here goes....
i just got the t610 from taiwan, and apparently it just came out last week or the week before that....since i got it in taiwan it's obviously got the chinese input and everything....
okay, after i do the trick to get into the 'Service' menu, i choose 'Service info', and then 'SW information'
after doing that, i see a bunch of text, but the first few lines say:
R1L013 prgCXC12-5584_TAIWAN
R1L013 prgCXC12-5562_TAE
and then it's got some LCD/camera version stuff after that...and way on the bottom it says
ITP Version: R1B007 prgCXC125560_TP
is R1L013 or R1B007 the filmware version?
i'm guessing it's the 'R1B007' because i've read about how there is new filmware called 'R1B013' or something....
okay, so if R1B007 is my filmware version, would i be able to update it to R1B013 here in Taiwan since it just came out 1 or 2 weeks ago? and if i can't, would i be able to do it elsewhere? and would the chinese input be gone if i do it elsewhere?
----------------
and i have another question.....
from the service menu, i choose 'Service info', and then 'SIMlock'...and then i see 4 headings: Network, Network subset, Service provider, and Corporate
beside each of those headings, there's a picture of a lock and after that there is a '5'....the lock i think seems to be broken, because the chain at the top isn't full on the pictures.....does that mean that my phone is unlocked?
i bought a t68i here before also and it was unlocked so i'm pretty sure this one is unlocked also, but just double checking...
thanks to whoever that can help me out ;X
by the way, i plan to take the phone back to canada, the t68i i brought there worked so i'm pretty sure this'll work also~

R1L013 is the firmware version. The original firmware was R1A018.
Yes, it sounds like your phone is fully unlocked.

Hi xplizit,
Welcome to Esato.
After you did the service menu trick ( >* 'Service info', and --> 'SW information' , this is what you saw on the first 2 lines :
R1L013 prgCXC12-5584_TAIWAN
R1L013 prgCXC12-5562_TAE
..which means that R1L is the firmware version.
And in 'Service info' --> 'SIMlock'... -->Network, Network subset, Service provider, and Corporate...
..if
ALL the locks are "broken" / unlocked , it means that your phone is unlocked and can be used on other service providers.

thanx for the quick reply ;X
so is R1L013 the newest version? it's not the newest according to some other people's posts....is that because i got it in taiwan? or because it's an older version?

R1L013 IS the latest firmware version for the T610 everywhere.
What posts are you talking about that say its not because that is not correct.

Is phone lock code not just the code that you have to lock your phone from anyone else using it. Read the manual. I think the default is either 5555 or 0000

The number 5, only means u have 5 attempts to input a code, if 4 example ur fone is locked and u try to input wrong codes 5 times, ur fone wil b permanently locked. But can stil be unlocked using a data cable.

the "phone lock code" stuff appears when u try to using a alternerty sim card. (unlast u deactive it from settings/locks/phone lock), it doesn't mean u can only use a certain network sim card on it.
in fact, even u used ur phone with a Vodafone sim card, and u try to insert a new vodafone sim, the phone lock code is agian required.
