Is the nokia n-gage a more powerful device for games than the P800? I was looking at the game titles of that phone and i must say that there are some great games there.....

this is odd you said this as ive just been looking into the N-Gage.
i wont lie on the fact that i dont know the power of the device but it looks pretty impressive... we're talking PSone graphics on games.
i read several reviews of the phone and the majority seemed surprised with the quality of the games but were overall pretty disapointed.
i think that nokia have made a huge mistake with this phone, it reminds me of Sega back a few years, releasing the 'Saturn' console only to be destroyed by Sony's 'Playstation'. They have big name developers pushing their product but ironically the only one im interested in is Sega (mainly a port of Virtua Tennis). I browsed the forums of the nokia phones (mainly to feel as if i havent been shrouded by my P800) and i just began to see how primative their technology is..... i know every one originally loves to hear how good their P800 is (me included...and still do!) but from a hopefully no biased view i just think that nokia as a company is on the way out. ive owned several nokia phones before the P800 but my devotion to them ended when i saw that their developers are just too slow to catch on.
its odd too because not only the Sega with nokia recognition sticks but i also see such a Linux power in the UIQ platform and SE (not saying their connected but, they have the same following in my opinion....every one loves to hate nokia who use a SE just as the hate of a linux user still burns when they use a pc with XP.
good lordy, ive got to stop thinking! not only that but i dont think i helped this forum topic in the slightest!

With your huge list of phones I'm assuming you'll be getting both.

I have heard a lot about the PSP but I haven't actually seen a picture of it (except the "artist's impressions" in T3) so this leads me to believe that it is still a while away, unless Sony are doing a really good job of keeping it a secret.
For the moment I have a GBA SP and I love it. Although it goes feel wierd playing Sonic Advance 2 on a Nintendo. The world has definitely changed.....
I think that real tech heads won't buy an N-Gage because although it may be a good gaming machine, it won't be as fully featured in the phone/organiser department as most of us would like. I'm waiting for the PSP.

But isnt' the N-gage a series 60 phone. If so then the P800 is still more powerful. I believe the P800 could run great games but no one is really concentrating on developing them for one main reason... It's hard to play arcade games on the p800!!! Playing through the touch screen won't work.
*I play games in the p800 but only strategy and puzzle games.

From what I understand the N-Gage will be pretty powerful (from a handheld standpoint), but it's all down to the software support that it gets.
The Saturn was a fairly powerful machine for it's day, as was the Jaguar before it and even the Sega 32x had potential. However, the reason all of these machines failed was due to the lack of third-party software support. Game developers HATE having to write for multiple platforms. In their ideal world there would be a single platform for all games. That would cut their development costs and allow them to optimise an engine for the hardware.
It's highly unlikely that the N-Gage will get much support from any of the usual developers and publishers. If that happens it will fade away into gaming oblivion.

... and to think they're going against Nintento. The only edge the n-gage has vs. the GBA is bluetooth and GPRS for network gaming.

The P800 maybe a more powerful phone than the N-Gage but you have to remeber that the N-Gage was designed more as a games machine than a PDA.... the N-Gage has a dedicated graphics processor that is geared towards games.... the P800 doesn't so you will get more impressive looking games on the N-Gage because that's its job! The P800 is designed as more of a PDA and was originally geared towards the business man.

Hey Guys
N-gage is series 60 phone, so it is very powerful and just to say jimni, the n-gage will outperform GBA SP in every department of gaming ever.
But Now for my 2 cents worth:
The best new portable machine will definitely be PSP when it gets here next here, because it is a proper games machine with incredible power,
The n-gage is a series 60 phone with added memory and a great graphics chip, that's why it can do 3d games so well, as a matter of fact it does tomb raider exactly like the psOne, but Nokia the shmucks that they are, they didn't even bother to rotate the standard series 60 screen onto it's side, so it's going to make gaming a bit dufficult with that screen.
There is also another contender called the 'Tapwave' which is running I think Palm OS and has 2 SD slots for games and maybe bluetooth and wi-fi cards, but this is from a small company and I think it's going to go the route of atari lynx, and sega Nomad.
Finally the only real challenger will be the future GB, It will be announced soon or immediately before release of PSP (obviously to steal sony's thunder) but insiders in the industry are saying Nintendo will pull out all the stops to try and trump SONY after all Nintendo won't want to loose it's bread and butter to SONY, As it is currently king of handhelps it could easily be beaten by SONY,
IT can happen look what playstation did to Nintendo in the console market.
So in my humble opinion, this will be a 3 legged race between,
1. Sony PSP
2. Nintendo GB Next
3. Nokia N-gage.
