I am sure that this must have been discussed before but I can't find a specific answer when I search. What I want to do is change the white background that you see when you open the flip and get the full applications menu. It is easy to change the background that you see with flip shut but when it's open?

No - can't be done.
However, I belive Tracker (or is it HandyDay?) backgrounds are available, provided you use this app.
Serach the threads with thos app keywords (sorry - I would, but it's home time and it took me 4.5hrs to get home yesterday!)
Steven.

This is interesting and a bit annoying. I presumed that it could be done as I notice that one of the "spy" pictures on the home page here of the p810/900 is of the phone with the flip open and apparently showing the colosseum as a background

with HandyDay you can change the colour scheme of all the menus, bit like a theme colour from the t68i, but unfortunately as far as im aware you can only change them to the ones that are given and to be honest most of the colours are horrible.
on the other hand there is tracker. you can customise the background desktop with your own picture and just personalise your own shortcuts.
i would say tracker looks the nicest, but maybe the general feel and presentation of HandyDay outweighs things??? im not sure. i suppose its all down to personal preference.
one things for sure, you should really have either one running on your phone coz it makes the experience a whole lot better

Psiloc offer a colourscheme program;
find it at
http://psiloc.com/?id=down&kr=1&dz=3it allows you to change every colour on your p800.
the white page behind the applications menu is callled "control panel background".
you can only change its colour though, you cant have a picture.

I use tracker... you can make a "windows"-like desktop with personalized wallpaper and shortcuts.

This colour scheme program works a treat

@ Jackblue...I wish you could set the background as an image but a different colour is a nice change
