Whenever I make a call I get a message pop up on the screen of my T610 saying "Ciphering off", and during the call I get a 'exclamation point in a triangle' icon. What does that mean?
Thanks.

that means your service provider has turned off the encryption system in your network, making your calls more vulnerable to snooping.
hmm ... this topic was recently featured in the news with the Russian government sometimes ordering their local SPs in that country to turn off encryption systems.

I have the same problem too. Until now haven't found a way about it.
In fact, what bothers me is not the message warning, I don't care about it, my concern is about the warning sound the T610 makes when the message appears.
If your speaker is loud, it hurts! and if not, well then you can't hear anything else in the phone at the same time.
Since it always appear a few seconds in the call not the beginning you always miss what the other person say at that moment.
Apparently, the only way is to de-activate permanently the ciphering function at a SE service center.
But I don't want this... I just want the warning to be silent that's all.

Thanks everyone, I'll have to get in touch with my service provider and see what they can do to solve this, I am not really concerned with the encryption being off but the warnings are truely annoying.
Thanks again.

just read some of the posts on this thread
are all networks in india unecrypted.
can you tell me what is the difference between the
warning unencrypted call
screen of death.
the screen of death scares the hell out of me, once my phone froze, just locked on me and i had to plug it, unplug it,remove the battery, put it back in, i dont knwo what made it go again. finally it decided to unfreeze and then it said the file system was corrupted and it had to format itself.
