...which I think is wierd because MMS messages with .amr files attached will play through the loud speaker...

True, I am hoping that

will add this capability in future firmware updates. Don't get your hopes up too much though...

I did a little test.
1. Fist I saved a 30sec MP3 song as wav
2. Converted it to 16bit 8000khz mono (at this point the sound quality degraded noticebly)
3. Converted it to AMR (big quality loss, lot's of noise)
4. Send the AMR to the phone (I couldn't now listen to it through the headset)
5. Create an MMS message, add the AMR file to the MMS (I could now listen to the song loud on the speaker. It sounds horrible)
If you want to listen to a recorded conversation loud (on the speaker), simply add it to MMS and preview the MMS. Recorded conversations sound pretty good, but it's no use for music.
So.... AMR ringtones will most probably never be possible

Nice experiment wrath000!
Of course .amr files are not suitable for music. just compare, mp3 or cd-audio samples music with 44,100 samples per second (44,1Khz) and each sample quantizes in one of 2^16 (16-bit) values. Now .amr supports 8Khz 8-bit mono pcm which is hardly capable of reproducing human voice. that's why music is so badly distorted when it's recorded with .amr specifications. ....and thank god SE doesn't let us use .amr files as ringtones

It might be a silly question, but how can I turn on the loudspeaker? Cuz when I get an mms, the amr file is played as loud as you hear the partners voice in a phone conversation. I use R1A software. Is it possible with this?

If you are referring to playing a recorded conversation over the speaker - the only way to do it, is to add the AMR file to the MMS, and then Preview the mms

I tried to say earlier that my mms preview is so quiet as a phone conversation. If I record something, that is so quiet too.
