According to
http://sonyericssonserver.com they state that their new software can do it.
"We are receiveing a lot of incoming mails asking if our FULL Edition Software Supports T610 Language Changing or Firmware Upgrading. Yes, it supports!"
Any one willing to try it?

The thread you refer to, which YOU obviously haven't read, is mainly to do with removing the operator branding, using the SAME firmware - do you understand now???
Look its very simple. Sonyericssonserver say that it is possible to upgrade to the latest firmware, using their software, whereas many claim that it will kill the phone.
Is that clear now?

hang one a minute! no need to be so shirty... This is a friendly forums not one where we attack each other like some I have spent time on.
If you have been on esato long enough you would see that I only give advice about things I either know or have researched and I believe I have earned a little respect for that. Obviously I read that thread I suggested and it was only given as an example of a few other threads out there which discuss flashing and this one in particular talked about the sonyericssonserver which you specifically mentioned.
If you read my reply you will see in this case I was not giving you a direct answer but a pointer to a thread which may be helpful.
I cannot be right all the time so if it was not helpful then my appologies.
