Hi all
Was just wondering if the software upgrade will enable this phone to work with the 3G sim card ?
There are some phones out there that work with 3G sims, but unforunately this is not one of them. Shame, cos I love this phone.
Can anyone think of a workaround ?

3G is not just software. It's also hardware. So 3G sim cards would only work if it also had GSM. I have not heard of a UMTS/GSM SIM card, but I can't promise that they don't exist.

Thanks for the posts.
I have found that there are a fair few 2G phones that work with the 3 network.
Most nokia's seem to work, there are even a few Sony's. However, the p800 is not one of them
I'll update this post if I find more info.

We tried a 'three' simcard in all the phones we had in stock at work, in an effort to find a standby phone for a customer. Now while most of them booted up and worked for a minute, they all promptly froze. This is a situation confirmed by 'three' themselves.
The 3g handsets are the only mass market UK handsets available that will accept and work (semi-reliably anyway) with a 3g simcard
