hi ...

ever since i saw the t610 i wanted it, i couldnt decide if i wanted the 7250 ... but i decided the t 610 is what i want ... i really want a speaker phone .. but the phone is better looking, and more advanced, and a big screen matters.

I live in Israel, and they only way of getting a T-610 is buying it off someone who got it from overseas, someone gets them brand new from Belgium from MOBISTAR servercei provider.. for around $400 which is the standard price .

I WANT to know what i should look out for ... the firmware ?? which one is good .. which one is bad, what is the latest, and what is not .

I will have to buy an IR adapter for tranferring files because BT is currently blocked in Israel, and will only be open in another month, israeli sim cards block the BT, a real pitty

Another thing ,,, how bad is the screen, if i am not mistaken it is TFN , which isnt the best, some say the 4096 colour screen of the 7650 is better.

With an Infa red adapter, do i need any software from SE to transfer the files from phone to pc, and vice versa, or do i jsut do the rregullar RIGHT CLICK, send to IR ??

Anyone with helpful information... please it will be appreciated

another thing ... do the JAVA games have Polyphonic sounds ?
its 32 poly ? right ?

and ........ how many pix can be stored in 1mb , and what is the size of each pic taken by the cam ?

and .... how good is the T9 ?? better than NOKIA ?

1) The latest s/ware version out is R1L. As for the phone set itself, insdie the battery compartment, under the 2 barcodes, next to he s/n, theres a week of manufacture, somthiugn like 02W23. Get minimum w23, cos phone sets prior to W23 had the crackling earpiece problem

2) BT is not at all a network dependant feature. I really don't think a network cant block access to it in anyway - its got nothing to do with them, its just IR on steroids at the simplest. In ANYcase, if somehow the Israelis have managed to block BT (I know they;re the beezneez when it comes to tech) , its worth the 1 month wait.

3) The T9 is good. Really good. Can't say better than Nokia or not cos havent used any new nokias for almost a year now. But the T610 lets you view/edit/delete the words that you add to your dictionary (dont expect many Hebrew words there, so there'll be lots of roman english hebrew in your list). Also, during predictive input, as u use the phone, it learns from your usage and suggests the words U use more commonly first.

For sync, you can sync with your Outlook using the free xtnd connect s/ware that comes with the phone (or download from the SE website). No need to sned individually. To xfer files, you can just extablish IR/BT/Cable connection and send to and from the PC.

The screen is not bad at all. True is not your plasma screen, can be a teeny bit difficult to view in direct sunlight, but still, its not bad at all.

Don't raise your hopes on the games, they're pretty awful, IMHO. The phone has 32 poly sounds, dont think the games do.

Not sure how many pics the phone will hold, but... in anycase, after a few days you might find its not really worth it using the phone as a camera.

I thinks thats all for now.

Btw, Shalom, its the first time I'm ever communicating to an Israeli in any form

Thanks a lot

The service providers have blocked the BT, when an Israeli sim card is inserted, it blocks the BT, every new bit of technolgy needs to be run by the damn government before it is made legal, had something to do with frequencies the army ran shit on .. i donno

I know at the moment you can not get hebrew on the phone, but some say here in Israel you can, from september onwards .

So you say not to accept a phone which was produced after WEEK 23 ?
the person who provides them has week 51 i think.

No, I said the exact opposite, don't get phones manufactured before Week 23. Week 51 would be just fine.

week 51?! very odd as the T610 wasn't in production in week 51 2002 and we haven't come to week 51 2003 (which is almost the last week of the year). Double check that, it might indicate that something isn't as it should be...

Hi,

I live in Belgium and i have bought the T610 in the Mobistar (= Orange Belgium) pack too.
A couple of comments,

-As far as I can see all handsets are 03W21 or later they don't have the hiss-problem.
- firmware = R1A081 (= first version)
-They are not locked by Mobistar, only have got a couple of pics you can't delete. And the online service menu icon (first icon on the desktop) is replaced by a mobistar icon (takes you directly to the M* wapsite).
Retail price for the pack in Belgium is 349 euros (retail price for the phone is starting at 400 euros)

Cheers,
Dietbrand
