> Prices of Ringtones - Rant!
Bookmark topic
Well, I couldn't keep this bottled up anymore!
Today I looked in a magazine, which had an advert for ringtones. £3 each!! and apparently this is a normal price!!!???
I can't believe people pay £3 a shot for some crappy ringtone that you're going to get bored of in a few days.
Ok, I've got the T610, and installed a few 'gimmicky' ringtones, but these have all been free midi files, downloaded from online. I've about 100 chart-songs that would have set me back £300 through the magazine con!
I heard on the radio that Ringtones are now (or set to be) making more money than CD single sales!
Is everyone crazy??
I'm just glad that SonyEricsson seem to have provided their customers with the option to get free songs and pictures. They could have easily used a proprietary midi system, charging for all tones, and locking the IrDA so that transferring anything would have to be via MMS (Like other shameless phone companies!)

It's insane that people say there prices when you can get the same on wap. I posted something similar on another board today.

I agree...
The thing that makes is the most stupid is that midi files are so readily available...I haven't paid for a ringtone yet..

In my country, the ringtones, Op Logos ,etc etc occupy the entire page of the local tabloid, some even
two full pages...
The ringtones are mostly user submitted online, so its basically free for them... And there are charging a few bucks for them...
