Grr... today I was showing my brother what the P800 looks like without the Flip, and when I took the flip off some little square thing fell out the phone. It comes from a little slot on the bottom right-hand side of the phone. I found it, put it back in and put the flip back on and now the phone doesn't change to flip mode when the flip is against the screen... WTF has happened!? do I need to send it to SE of repairs...

sounds like the small switch which detects flip open/closed has somehow fallen out.....
if you dont want to disassemble your p800 and fix it yourself then send it back.
in the meantime, youll just have to use flip removed mode.

In defence of the flip! I find the flip very handy!

The flip is handy for making calls cos the virtual flip is too small for finger use.... what someone needs to do is write an app so that flip closed mode has bigger virtual buttons.

Then using the phone without the flip would be possible.
