> irRemote can now learn stuff?

According to my-symbian Psiloc Total irRemote allows you to customize application ie. ur able to teach P800 remote codes. i wonder does that mean you can put an other remote device against p800 and learn some of the functions. cant wait to try it out.

Nope i dont think thats what they mean by learnin in this case u need some sort of code file for ur remote wich u can load into irremote
but im sure someone else can hopefully explain this better to u

its a shame that the ir remote wont learn' properly like the pronto can.
i have a Kenwood amp, Hitachi TV, Toshiba DVD player and Marantz CD player. The only set of codes which work are the dvd player.
it makes the whole thing pointless until i can get the other codes.

Just curious but what range should one expect when using the P800 as an IR remote? Also, what angle must the P800 be held at relative to the TV, etc.?
I have had bad luck with the irRemote demo. I must be fairly close to the TV and have to hold the P800 perfectly level on the same plane as the TV in order for it to work.
Is my P800 defective or am I doing something wrong?

but then again, if it was designed to tx data and didnt have remote controlling in mind, it is all that is needed.

http://www.psiloc.com/?id=prod&nrp=97 ) and i have the philips pronto sbc ru940 so i can according to the site, import some of the .ccf codes from the pronto into the p800. this p800 gets better every day.

Odd, the IR transmitter appears to be made of large and powerful LEDs.
They need to think of a bit bigger picture for the P810. When I pay this much for a phone it should do just about everything but make coffee.
(I still don't regret buying it though, just looknig forward to the next iteration.)

the problem is on the Tv IR receptors, on the Sony tv's i have to be in a very close range for the ir to work, but i've tested the P800 in a Crown Tv(bleargh lol) and i could control it from a distance of 1,5/2 meters with no probs =)

i used to work for Comet (as of 6pm today!!!!), tried it on all of ours and averaged 2 metres max and i don't think it has anything to do with the makes of the TV's there were some sony's that were about 1 and some 1.5 and the new flag ship one was around 2.5!! it's individual TV's and also you have to point the IR transmitter right at the receiver on the TV as i think someone has already said. this is also something for sony to think about for the 810/900 wider angle!!!
and has anyone got it working for sky??? i was speaking to someone who said they had a file for it for.... can't remember the program he said, can you import other files???
