I want to be able to set my phone so that it doesn't ring (or even register) a Witheld phone call.
I appreciate that many hospital & clinics etc Witheld their number, but i still want this facility.
Basically no phone number = does not get thorough.
Is there any way I can do this and if not can a clever programer write an app, please!
thanks

I can't help with your query but I am interested to know how withheld numbers appear on my screen. They appear without the prefix ie. no 0207 if a London call but the whole of the rest of the number. Can be quite useful actually !

@nigelot
I can't find a way to block the withheld numbers, but you can make the phone accept only the people in your addressbook or contacts list. for this (you may already know this ) go to phone> edit > preferences> accepted callers> select listed callers only> and add the all contacts to that list. Did this info any use?

@Orn8one
The withheld number is displayed on the phone as ''withheld'' with no part of the number revealed. If you want to see how it will appear on your screen the keyin your own phone number in flipclose mode and then press the option button on the flip select 'Hide my number' and dial.
Hope this helps

hi anish
yep, i knew about the accepted caller facility, i use it at night when i go to bed.
do you think the app i'm looking for would be difficult or even possible with the present firmware?
does anyone with program symbian experience have any ideas?

Hi Anis, Many thanks for your reply. What I meant was that I do actually see the withheld number. Just without the prefix. If my son calls from his London office to home my landline says withheld number but if he calls my mobile I see his whole number apart from the 0207. My Nokia never showed the number. Just facinated is all.

@nigelot
I don't think it will be difficult to do this because landline lines already have this facility. About whether it is possible to do in the present firmware I will leave it to my programer friends in this forum to answer

@Orn8one

Thats amazing that you can see part of the number even when it is withheld,because my P800 never shows any part of the withheld number it just shows it in English as ''Withheld''. By the way which network are you on and which firmware of the phone

@ anish
Hi, thanks for your interst - I am facinated by it. I am on Vodafone and my version is the R2D. I have never seen withheld appear on my phone. Numbers that appeared on my old phone as witheld now half appear on the P8. Interestingly I have some numbers that are withheld but I have the number with a picture in my contacts. In these cases when I have a call from them the pic doesn't come up just 1/2 the number. Also I was in Greece last week and my calls from UK just came through as +44 ! No other identification. That may have been the Greed network though. Cheers, Orn8
