is there any way to access e-mail without using allowed data bites, but rather using regular air time? I have T68 and R520 with AT&T. I am not a technical person so I would really appreciate plain explanation.
Just as an explanation to my question, AT&T customer support declares that there is no e-mail option for T68 at all, and they do NOT support R520.
I am able access yahoo mail, but I cannot send one at all, no matter what I tried (all the settings from this forum will not work for me to send a mail)
Thank you very much in advance!

I'm in a similar spot, I can receive POP, but can't send. I've got a reps email and she is trying to work on...maybe. I think that we need to have att wireless's server for outgoing. Did you ever get any resolution? We should have similar services since we are in the same neck of the woods

You can receive POP, but can't send. Keep in mind that that most if not all ISP's require you to use their SMTP server because of SPAM issues. AT&T does not furnish an SMTP server so you have to create a dial-up account to your ISP. You can then retrieve POP3 mail from anywhere but you have to use the ISP's SMTP address to send mail. Makes sense?

Yeah, I had tried that...used my NetZero server (smtp.netzero.net). It works nicely for the my POP Netzero and POP Yhaoo mail in OE, but no go here. Any other suggestions?

I can send and receive with my T68m and T68i on AT&T over GPRS. All I did was enter the settings in my T68 like any other email program.

Man, I'm jealous. Like you say, it seems like most people can use their email with settings like in any other client, but I can't f*****g send and At&t will not work with me. I'm frustrated

Ok, Here is hopefully the answer to your problems... or so I am told by the people at support center. When you want to e-mail from your phone.. go to SMS. type the e-mail adddress first. then space. then the body of the message. send. "number" will prompt. enter four zeros. send. this will supposedly send correctly without using yahoo, aol, or the like.

Intersting, I am most impressed by your patch. It is a quick fix, and useful. I am interested in pursuing the full functionality of the phone and look forward to more good work by you to appear on esato!

matt5115> here is a copy of At&t's response to my inquiry that you so generously aided, and to anyone else who is interested in using the t68's features
You will need to use WAP services because the email option on the message
menu is a feature of the phone that we currently do not support. We are only
going to support POP e-mail from the mMode homedeck at this time. We are not
going to support POP e-mail accounts unless they are being set up through
the mMode homedeck.
