Lexar Media’s Memory Stick PRO Duo utilizes the latest generation Memory Stick format and will be available in capacities of 256MB and 512MB, with a theoretical maximum storage capacity of 32GB. Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick PRO Duo are equipped with MagicGate™, a copyright protection technology that consists of authentication and encryption technologies. The authentication technology ensures that protected content is only transferred between compliant devices and media, and that protected content is recorded and transferred in an encrypted format to prevent unauthorized copying or playback.
Lexar Media plans to begin shipments of Memory Stick Duo in September 2003, and shipments of Memory Stick PRO Duo in capacities of 256MB and 512MB in September and October 2003, respectively.

You're right that MS Pros aren't compatible with the P800, hence the MS Duo Pros won't be either, but it's nothing to do with the fact that they're magic gate. All magic gate means is that they will allow you to play Sony's copy protected atrac3 format.
The press release states that the new MS Duo Pros will be available in October, the same time as the P810/P900 is supposedly due for release according to Orange France, who knows...maybe the P810/P900 will be able to use them?

Ok I've changed my mind now that I've just heard that Sony is releasing the DSC-U50 camera in october which is going to be the first product to use ms duo pros, so i guess the p810 isnt the reason why theyre releasing the duo pros in october

everything seems to be pointing towards october though... possibly a big DUO/ DUO pro product launch for a whole line of products using them??? PDA's included maybe
comet were told of a big launch in october but weren't told who for or what products, just told it was something to with portability??? it might not even be anything to do with sony but thought i would let you know anyway
time will tell!!!

p800 only supports 128mb,if you put a 256mb card in,it only reads it as 128mb.what would a 512mb card cost?i would guess ÂŁ250,is that a pretty good guess

Trust Sony to develop their own proprietary format with 5 variations which aren't interchangable - instead of just using an established format like SD.
