You said you tried everything you found on this forum, so I guess it's not your firewall…

do yoy get the "phone connection link" and "my p800-cable" icon in your taskbar? the "phone connection link" icon should be animated. sometimes eventhough i have P800 in cradle it will not see it until i take mobile out of cradle and put it back in again. could be bad connection in my cradle.

Damn, this is happening to me as well. I have been connecting my P800 to my Vaio with XP Home for 6 months...now, all of a sudden, all I get is the moving arrow icon in the taskbar...then NOTHING! The P800 icon doesn't come up anymore and the phone doesn't connect although the DCU-11 cable is connected to the proper COM port.
In the link properties, it says "Connected" but the phone is not detected at all!!!
HELP....could it be a dead cable? The charger still works just fine.....

I've had the same problem with some of my friends...They weren't using any firewall or even antivirus protection software so the only thing i could try was to re-install the suite, even deleting manualy some of the files of the suite just to be sure that they would re-load for sure. I enen re-installed windows (not clean installation) and nothing happened. Then one day i found out that there where some programs running in startup that wouldn't allow the suite to connect with the p800. I used REGEDIT and removed them from the RUN section, rebooted the machine and then the p800 could connect!!! So just disable all the programs that are running automaticaly when windows starts, check if you can connect and then try enabling each one of the programs anr reboot to see which one of them causes the problem. I think i've might helped a bit....(or a byte, a kilo-byte, a mega-byte... just kidding!!!)

I didn't want to buy a cable until I was positive it isn't software related.
Did all of us who are having problems install those Windows Security updates in the last couple of weeks?
Could it possibly be related to that?
