> T610 T-Mobile sold out?
Bookmark topic
Hey,
I saw that the T610 is sold out both on the T-Mobile site, as on Amazon. My friend needs a new phone desperately, and he's about to get a T300 (OUCH!) because there's no cheap T610 available on Amazon. Any idea if this is going to be resolved soon? Thanks!

You can go to your local T-mobile store as they often have some, and if that doesnt work, CompUSA stores usually have a bunch of T-Mobile T610's, hope this helps.

The T610 is hard to find because they were delivered to T-Mobile with "Cingular" appearing on the screen, not "T-Mobile." They've all been sent back to have this corrected. The phones work perfectly, however. I found mine through an independent dealer (in Los Angeles). There are definitely T610s out there, but they are nearly impossible to get through T-Mobile. The T-Mobile rep I spoke with told me that it would be at least one month before they had them available. I suggest talking to an independent T-Mobile dealer if you want one now.-Rob

That's odd. We got several SET610s from T-Mobile (U.S.) with correct T-Mobile branding, including not so great blue T-Mobile theme.
I much prefer the T-Mobile theme my phone came with in Germany (white background with black boxes and pink T) and have beamed this onto the others.

hmmm.. not sure about Cingular appearing on the headset being an issue.... I bought an unlocked phone and when I am in newyork my phone displayes T-Mobile when I am back in CA it shows Cingular the reason why is because GSM network here was created by Cingular.

we have them again ( i work at t-mobile)
they were sent back to Sony Ericsson because they were not some accepting older SIM cards, actually. In markets like California they were incorrectly displaying Cingular instead of TMobile...Cingular built the gsm network in California so thats why.
i still prefer my T610 i bought at a shop in chicago its got better reception and clarity. its red now too.

Asortatorifan,
will you get the T610 firmware fixed for us then, so it will show the GPRS icon and it will not be so friggin locked out from user input?

The real issue with T-Mobile's T610 stock is this:
I called up Customer Care, and also went to the 4 T-Mobile stores in my area, and they ALL said the same thing: The stock of T610's they got from SE are not recognizing the SIM cards. So they sent them all back to SE to get them repaired/replaced. Kinda sucks, I'm waiting on a T610 too!

Well I'm not quite sure if that was totally true. I ordered two (2) T610 from customer service last Tuesday and I got them Friday in the mail. They both accepted my ancient 2 year old SIM card without a hitch. Then I took my phone to the local store because of the GPRS indicator not working and requested a new SIM card as I thought that might fix it. The new sim card works perfect too, except for the GPRS indicator that is still dead (we already confirmed the problem on that one).
Note that the T610 is available from the T-Mobile on-line store again, so they might have gotten a new batch in. My T610 has a build week 27 btw.
