good afternoon,

my friend is travelling in malaysia at the moment and he said the price of a T610 there is much cheaper than here in estonia. I would like to get one for myself. Does anybody know if there is any hardware difference between the T610 sold at european or asian market?
and can I have my local language pack installed here at local servicecentre?
If there is anybody who knows then please let me know as well cause I really want to buy this phone.

The hardware is the same since they all come from the same factory in China.

My guess is that it will come with English and Chinese and yes, you can go to your SE service centre who can reload the firmware with your local language.

Be aware you may have to pay for that, especially since you will not get warranty since SE warranty is only for the country or region in which you buy the phone.

I guarantee you not... read the manual, in particular section "additional information" where it describes this (page 85)

Ericsson phones used to be worldwide warranty.

I agree. It is NOT worldwide. Read the manual. Its only for the COUNTRY in which you bought your phone from. Man, how i hate this policy ... That sucks, i mean, What's the point? This message was posted from a T300

Thank you for your replies. I know about the warranty and that I have to pay for the software but the phone is still about 25% cheaper with all possible costs when bought from there.

i also know that it is not world wide...I am in Hong Kong right now and my T610 was purchased in another country and the service center in Hong Kong has told me through email that they will not upgrade my software even if I pay them.

I just asked about it from the SE customer support two times and the replies were:

1) No you can´t install european languages to phone for asian market.

2) To answer your question we need to know the IMEI of your phone.

since I haven´t yet bought it I don´t know the IMEI. And I quess it´s better to pay some more money just to be sure about the language pack. What is strange about it - both replies I got from SE said that there is no hardware difference between the phones for different market. It´s propably just another policy.

Here's a thought:Once your friend in Malaysia bought the phone, get him to bring the phone to a SE service centre in Malaysia and ask them if they could install the language pack (which should be free). You can tell SE service centre that you are a foreigner living in Malaysia, and would like to have your language installed in your phone. Maybe they can help, maybe not. Doesn't hurt to try.
