> Annoying sound problem with T610
Bookmark topic
Yes I know I posted earlier that I'm happy with the phone apart from three problems... well make that four problems.
Everytime I get an SMS message, compose an EMS with sound, or a warning tone signals there is a strange hissing sound after the tone being played (like a sssshhhhhhh sound). Is this hardware or can it be resolved as part of a software upgrade. With really short tone signals (EMS) its even worse.
Does anyone else notice this problem coz it does get annoying at times, and does anyone know of a solution?

Hmmm. hadn't noticed it before and had to put it to my ear to hear it but yes, I agree with you.
It sounds like what I heard on my original Compaq Ipaq in the very early days of pocketpc. At that time it was attributed to the amp powering down.
I wonder if thats the same thing here?

If you have your ring signal loud its even worse. Beginning to get right on my tits. Oh how I love the esato forum when work is slow. Anyone else got any ideas on how to fix the problem?

I have this also. It's to do with the way the phone plays polyphonic tones.
For normal conversation, the speaker is at a relatively low volume, and no hissing is heard.
When poly tones play, they're loud, so the speaker is kind of turned up, or has an increased gain. All speakers suffer from a background hiss when "turned up". For some reason the T610 keeps the gain up for a second after the sound has finished - so you hear the hissing noise.
Same thing (in principle) happens with my lovely B&W hi-fi speakers.

I get the same, its more noticeable when playing a game such as Alien Scum, one of the reasons I hate poly tones.
I cant believe that we dont have the option to use an imy from a 68i without it turning poly.

Yeah somtetimes I wish I could have a standard ring ring, like the 'Scream' ring tone (as in the movie scream) on my old t68i, especially when I'm at work. Don't get me wrong the poly capabilities of the phone (minus the awful hiss) are brilliant and crap all ova phones such as nokia 7250i, but sometimes its not always approriate to have a full on song playing... especially when I'm at work or when I go back to uni.
Anyone have any ideas to sort the problem??

Yes. Use discreet (non-music) tones.. like Old phone, that one is not likely to cause much grief at work. You´re welcome to have a look at my site as well:

Mind you, since i also have S55 *and it´s primarily a Siemens site* some of the ringers are in .MMF format.
Cheers!
PS: I also have the "Sschussssssh"-sound after the tone ends

does anyone know of any quality differences between the t616 and the t618 especially when taking pictures with the camera? is it a defect in my t618 since the quality on my t616 is much better then the t618? or is it firmware issues?
