> MP3 Ringtones on T300?
Bookmark topic
Is there any chance that I can upload via IR to my T300 a short MP3 file (or similar) and use it as a ringtone? I know I can record some music via Sound Recorder (I tried to do so and use some recorded songs as ringtones) but these music are always very silent and can't be heard good. And they have some strange extension I can't figure out.
So, again - the question?
Can I transfer a part of the MP3 as an recording to T300, or at least canI somehow convert MP3 into this strange filetype SE uses for sound recording (and vice versa) to use as a ringtone?

The answer to your question is:
No you can't upload an mp3 to T300, the extension .mp3 is unrecognizable by the phone plus the size of mp3 files is enormous compared to the phone's memory.
However, you can convert an mp3 to .amr (the file name that sound recorder uses). You have first to convert .mp3 to .wav then get a program called amrconverter to do the job. By the way .amr files are something like 8Khz 8-bit monophonic .wav which means quality is very low.
Also .amr files can't be used as ringtones.
Hope I've answered to all your questions.

SE does not use any strange filetype for ringtones - it uses either standard .imy or the more modern poliphonic .midi (32 voices) ringtones. This is quite standard for mobilephones - its nothing special for SE. Mp3 is a compression standard designed for computers - it was never designed to be used in mobilephones - though in time im sure some will be able to use them.
