If we can just gain access to ROM Files we can customize the GUI of our phone the way we want to. Does anyone know if there would be a chance that some kind of software can be set to help us modify and access the files in the ROM Drives. I know and i understand that it is READ ONLY MEMORY, but what i don't understand is that how SE can put all these files and upgrade the firmware the way they want to. Trust me people there is a way to do that and i think we should come up with an answer to this.

I think if we do gain access, then we can upgrade the firm of the phone ourselves. We could share them together. I think just guessing. Anyone out there can answer my thoughts and has an idea of what can be a solution please share it with us.

The ROM isn't accessible from the phone - its a security measure (stops us from corrupting our machines and stops viruses from attacking the system). However, you are right in that this is not really a ROM. Unfortunately, as far as I understand it, you need to write to it using a special programmer which connects to the feature connector on the bottom of the phone.

I don't know whether it is possible to write some Windows code to use our cradles to do this... It would be nice, but life is rarely that simple with SE!

I was looking at some of the case change pics on here last week and it looked like there is a watch battery inside the phone. Maybe the memory is powered by this?

I understand that they're doing this for security measures, alot of people out there just like to f*ck around with there phones without knowing what they're doing. So can increase the risk of deleting some system files (Dum Stupid People). My point is that people who understand the contents of the phone should be able to access ROM without messing up the phone. Keeping it clean and clear.

@pdjenns:
The watch battery is there to preserve the memory/clock while the main battery is disconnected.

@pimp800:
Another reason for keeping the ROM separate and inaccessible from phone (write access) is to prevent the phone itself from damaging the ROM as well.
