> Possible P800 competition?
Bookmark topic
Anyone seen
the new Motorola A920?
It runs Symbian 7/UIQ, and looks like it has a very similar interface to the P800.
It looks bigger though, and
DOESN'T have BT!! (Motorola are nutters for leaving that out!)
However, it does have video recording facilites, and it's a
3G phone, which is being released on 3 today!
Edit: Aha! Just noticed it also has integrated GPS!! (as well as GP
RS!)
Here's another link to
Mobileburn who headline it as 'The P800 Killer'.
Apparently, contrary to the article, it's been launched on 3 recently.

how can it "kill" the P800, when it doesn't have BlueTooth. and worst... it is a motorola.

as the P800 has become so successful, other companies are pretty jealous, and are looking for some success.... as in motorola has been down for some years now, no one would consider motorola, so probably they were thinking of a way to get back into the race by brinigng out something good, and very advanced... even though they tried, i bet, that they left out a dozen things.. PLUS, dont forget that the motorola is a 3G phone, and P800 isnt.. if P800 was a 3G, it would have the video recording from the company.... and then it will jsut be untouchable... and the sonyericsson ppl would just have to sit back and relax for a few years, until any other company catches up...

I know through experience that Motorola are not very good at user interfaces. If this phone had BT, it would be serious competition - although i don't care much for it's looks, and I guess it's going to be huge (in size).
Integrated GPS though - that is cool.
"If the P800 were 3G" - it isn't, this is... which means that if you're in the market for a P800 on a GSM network, this would be the phone for you on a 3G network.
SE
must surely have something in the bag to compete on 3G

Don't knock it. As more of these P800 like clones come out using Symbian 7 it will encourage more software developers to code for this platform
Long way to go to get the quality, range & quantity of apps. to compete with Pocket PC

Today Infosync has an article, that Motorolla is going to sell it's symbian shares what means this obviously is the last Motorolla symbian phone - so we can't expect that it will be improved in future. Motorola is moving to M$ smsrtphone.

From my reading I felt that Motorola were looking at Linux as a future path for their Smartphones. Also, the A920 is not the last Symbian phone from Motorola (see BBC web site on tech matters).
