Are phones issued by o2/T-mobile locked to the network? I know that Vodafone and Orange are. Is it hard to ask the network to unlock the phone, because what happens if I have two SIM cards from different networks and I want to use them both on that 'locked' phone?

Recently acquired a brand new T610 on O2 and it was unlocked. I tried and tested my vurgin sim and my mates orange sim and all worked fine.

T-mobile locked their T610, but we can get it unlocked for 15£ from them after one month.

Oh ok, so o2 phones are (currently) unlocked when issued. As for T-mobile and presumably Voda/Orange require a fee to unlock. I see. Darn, ah well.

Thing is, I was wondering whether my non-UK Orange sim would work on a UK Voda issued phone (e.g. T610 - I WANT this phone..). I doubt it will because it's locked.

Man, I want the T610, bad! Will have to wait a while tho. *sigh*
