New DTT PVR has Q4 release scheduled
17:44 BST, Saturday 30th August 2003 -- by James Welsh
A new Nokia Personal Video Recorder for the DTT market will be released in the fourth quarter of this year.

The Nokia Mediamaster 260T, which sports the usual PVR functionality of pausing live TV and recording in digital format, will also include the capability of creating Image Albums to display photos transferred to the box from camera phones that support Bluetooth.

Jukka Tittu, Nokia Home's General Manager of Sales and Marketing, said:

"By offering consumers so many innovative ways to share and enjoy digital content - from personal images to favorite television and radio programs - on their TV in the comfort of the living room with family and friends, the Nokia Mediamaster 260 products will play a central role in the digital home. The Nokia Mediamaster 260 receivers bring all this together with Nokia's signature design, quality and ease-of-use."

The 260T will come with an 80GB hard disk, an updated NaviBars user menu and its own EPG layout.

No pic for the above but i'd like to know the price.(the bluetooth bit sounds interesting tho)

And then there's this one(with picture)but i'm not sure if it's for DTT,

Anyone know anymore,i use a Panasonic freeview box but would like to be able to record 1 channel while viewing another,we got Sky aswell but Sky+ is so expensive at the mo(£300 i think+£15 monthly subscription)and i think you only get 20GB for recording(someone correct me if i'm wrong).

Even Nokia remote controls look a bit like their phone's

dont know much about this one but if its like there freeview boxes it will be very quick with a nice user interface which is nearly as good as skys.
interms of the hard disc on it pace have a freeview box with one built in for about 300 quid maybe a bit less
and thompson have or are about to realse one.
the pace ones have had some excellent reviews.believe you can record off sky via scart lead as well which is nice.
i have sky+ and can recommend it as well as the pic quality on recording it records dd 5.1 sound which is a good bonus as no other format in the uk including dvd recorders will do this
the pic in the second link is the new dtt its apparaently very good.
on sky+ give sky a ring i got a deal out of them £200 for the sky+ box my old box put into my bedroom and an extra £10 a month which is the same as having an extra box but not paying the sky+ sub scription or vice versa

Cheers slattery,i suppose we need a decent review on it,i mean its not like i may be buying a nokia phone is it,otherwise i would'nt have started this thread

There is a company called Lidcom that should be bringing something similar out in the near future,i've read that they make a normal freeview box for the price of £60,not bad as my Pana cost me £100

sometimes it s worth paying a bit extra as the brand names tend to have better epgs also they tend to put on output scarts so you can record via video dvd recorder etc
start looking in what hifi and what tv and video or what satellie they tend to have review of future equipment the nokia in the pic was reviewed in the last issue of home entertainment and got a 5 out of 5
i would imagine the software and hardware from that box will be coupled with a hard disk to make the produce at the top
