> locked keypad -T610

I noticed that when i have my keypad locked, i can press the numbers 9 and 1. After trying pressing them out, you can dial 911 and call. Makes sense. But my country's emergency number isn't 911 and neither is the internationl emergency number. Isnt that kind of a bug? Can it be changed somehow to be the proper number? or am i just missing a point?

same on mine mate. I can dial '911', '999' and '112' when keypad is locked.
I guess the '911' dialing option comes with the triband terroritory maybe.

112 is the internatiol emergency num isnt it? so that makes sense, but 911 doesnt at all especially since T610 was not intended to being marketed in the US.

T68i used to do the same. It could dial "999" with the keys locked, not sure about "1" and "2"? They probably do this in case a stranger to the phone has to dial out in an emergency and doesn't know hot to unlock the keys. That's my guess.

When you dial those numbers (at least the 112, I've tested it), it gets redirected to the correct emergency number (here it's 117).
Last year, in Switzerland, for a couple of months you could even dial one of the emergency numbers without having a sim-card in your phone, but eventually they removed this possibility because too many prank calls where made, overloading the 117 line...

As far as I am aware in the US you can not dial 112 or 999 you can only dial 911 so that is why it is there, not because the phone is sold there, but as was said earlier, if you are injured or what ever, and someone needs to dial for help and do not know your phone, they can.

112 is a GSM standard and can be dialled anywhere that there is GSM reception.
