> Tariff Monitor Update Please Julian

Is there any news? Thanks in advance from anyone who knows the latest. Last I heard Julian had made most of the program but now needed the most important bit,the way to get the call/sms/gprs data from phone to program automatically! He said he would be in contact with SE. Any news since that I've missed?

Yep, know it's been a while but here's a brief update:
I've basically been doing some personal testing on the program, using it to track my own usage against my tariff. But before you get too excited, I have been doing this by manually inputting the calls that I make into the call simulator and viewing the result. This has been primarily to verify that the mapping logic works as expected. The good news is that it works; remaining allowances and other usages are calculated correctly, the rollover logic into the next month works ok, and ultimately you can get a one-page view of minutes remaining/used.
I still have a whole host of things I need to change, add and tidy up, but I prioritised the other night and have only got a few things to do before I can release a pre-beta tester. Note however that this will not provide automatic usage extraction from the phone, but will allow people to have a play and see that this stuff can be done (as per the discussions some months ago!).
Anyway, the last few things I have to do before releasing it are:
- Tidy up the new user process: it has problems currently when a user first installs and some user files need to be created. Once these are setup, it all works ok generally. There won't be no flashy wizard or anything, but I just need to make it work consistently, and...
- User Manual: I've started putting this together and it will be necessary for any new user as it is probably very easy to get the application's knickers in a twist if the correct process is not followed! (There are quite a few files maintained in the background that could potentially be corrupted!) Don't worry though, the manual will explain all the file formats and uses, etc.
- GUI: Struggling with AWT at the moment - can't get the buggering screen to update properly - shouldn't be hard to sort though.
There are umpteen more things I want to do, but they're not necessary for such an early release. The biggy is obviously automatic usage extract, but to be honest I don't think this is or will be possible with the P800. But hopefully releasing this will get some interest from other parties who may be able to write an API or something. If not then, we'll just have to wait until another Symbian phone comes along with the required support.
I suppose I might aswell ask now then; does anyone want to be a pre-beta tester for this app? I know there are a few people who will be interested, but can you post here (with your email address if you want to do this). If there's enough interest then I might just release it anyway for people to play with (of course with a bigger notice saying I'm not responsible for any problems!!)
Anyway, I've said it before, but it's getting close now to a first release...I promise.

I am very pleased that things have moved along so well!
I'd love to pre-beta test.
Utdole1973@aol.com is the place to contact me!
I will be back studying soon so would be able to most effectively experiment/test if I was to receive this program this week then I could report things at the start of next week.
Cheers Julian! Keep it up
