This is becoming an increasingly common problem. even for people like me who have had PC Suite working just fine for months...all of a sudden all we get is the pulsing mrouter arrow that says it is connected but the phone is NOT connected.
We have all tried uninstalling and reinstalling the USB drivers and PC Suite 1.5.1 and million times and NOTHING works. I have even worked it through with SE support and they cannot seem to help at all. They have no explanation for why it suddenly stopped working...
BTW, for me it's not just the cradle...I can get a BT connection...but the PHONE is NOT connected. I can also send a file by IRDA but the PHONE is not connected in PC Suite. I am going out of my mind with this....

I know this is not a generic solution but I also own a Clie Palm PDA. I found that I had to ensure Hotsync was deactivated from the Task Bar to ensure consistent linked with the P800. So, have you checked that you don't have other applications that may be interfering with the P800 Connection Suite?

i had a similar problem i solved mine by double clicking on the icon in the taskbar which brings up all the type of connections available, make sure the check box for the usb is checked, if it is you should uncheck it and check it again, then connect your phone again it should work

Yea, we have been through every single usual trouble shooting method...including two sessions with SE support.
It is not something basic like those suggestions..this is a really strange problem that seems to hit after (in my case 6) months of PC Suite working and the phone connecting just fine...
I am not the only one....SE has NO answer for this, they say it is a Windows problem.....

Had the same problem, but it can be very very easily avoided...
first, before placing your P800 on the cradle, use the stylus and press on the connecters pins in the cradle, activate the Phone connection Link, and put your P800 on the cradle, and it will definately work, tried and approved by myself!!
PLEASE NOTE!! FIREWALL PROGRAMS AFFECT THE PHONE CONNECTION LINKS, MAKE SURE TO MAKE IT IN THE FIREWALL'S ALLOW LIST OR DEACTIVATE THE FIREWALL ALTOGETHER.
Cheers!

Unfortunately, it's not just the cradle, it's the same with bluetooth and irda.
I don't have a firewall.

I mostly notice this problem on Windows XP Professional, and not on other operating systems, eg. Windows ME.
I work on multiple operating systems and the Phone Connection Link works very fine with Windows ME, and the problems you guys have is probably from Windows XP (perhaps, just my personal analysis), because of the difference in both OS's 'kernels', perhaps thats what SE meant by ' Windows Problem'...
Maybe, maybe not...........
Thanx!
