I replaced T-Zones with T-mobile's unlimited internet and man is it SLOW. I mean like 350 BYTES / second slow. I've called them and they took my information and said they'd get back to me but that doesn't sound very good. I have two connections set up in the T610...#2 points to wap.voicestream.com and #3 points to internet2.voicestream.com and #2 actually seems a little faster. T-Mobile sez the connection should be the same as a 56K modem, more or less. Has anyone else seen speed this pathetically slow? I can't believe I'm the only person in this area that uses his phone as a modem but they say no one else has complained thus far.

Are you sure your GPRS is activated or configured properly? This message was posted from a WAP device

I was told internet3.voicestream.com

Have been using the plan for over a month now...and although it is never as fast as a 56K it is usually around 14.4 - 28.8. I am hoping for it to improve!!! -- but am beginning to doubt it will be anytime soon

I've gone over the settings again and again based on what I've seen posted here and there on the web as well as experimenting with stuff myself and the best speed I've seen is an average of about 500 bytes per second. Once in a while I'll see 2K or so pound in but it's rare. internet3 just throws up an apn error and that's that. I guess I'll wait to see what t-mobile has to say and decide what to do from there.

So I went to the local T-Mobile store this morning and had a couple guys compare their T-Zones on their phones with mine so as to eliminate the T610 and old SIM as problems. Their speeds were the same as mine so they asked what the point of this exercise was and I said that I thought it was deathly slow for what they wanted a month for access. Their reply was "It's always been this speed...it's capable of 56K but I've never seen it over 14.4K or so". Yike! Well, I recently cancelled a $20/month 56K ISP that really did do close to 56K so damned if I'm paying $20/month for maybe 1/10th that speed...goodbye to T-Mobile Internet, back to T-Zones. At least it only took 24 hours to figure it out.
