Just moved to O2(T610), ported my number from Vodafone(which was ported from orange). So I got my temporary number for a week or so, I switch it off for a number of hours, and hey presto, it's supposed to be done.

For the last three days now my number, plus the temporary one are out of order, the message says something like "Please check the number and try again or call the operator"

Funny thing is, I can call out, text out and go online, but nothing comes in.
Today O2 tell me they are switching me off and re-starting it, then it will work, nothing is happening so far, I think they are bulls****ing me. I've switched it off loads of times, had the sim out gave it a clean, searched for a new network in the settings menu, done everything.........

A month ago I cancelled my contract with singlepoint for the same reason, because no-one was able to contact me for three weeks, it took 4 sim cards, and my fone sent back to the retailer before they found it was a porting problem.

Anyway, can anyone shed any light on the porting thing? How difficult is it? to transfer a number? I hate these networks telling lies, all I want is my fone to work properly.

Thanks in advance people.

i saw the front page of a news paper during the week that there was a problem with porting at the moment between networks. could be something to do with the msblast virus. it will be the same old waffle between networks O2 will say its Vodafone's fault and Vodafone will blame O2. i havent ported yet but mate of mine went from Orange to Tmobile without any problems.
