Guys:

1.

The problem can be avoided if you install the software from you pc using the Sync Station/Cradle.

You will get the same security error messages but you can ignore them and continue to install.

If you try to install it from the phone then you will not be able to install.

2.

The program isn't that good in my opinion.

Firstly, as soon as you touch the screen the backlight comes on. It would be better if this didnt happen so as to save battery power when its in your pocket for example.

Secondly, if you activate the Blue Button or the Camera Button the apps associated with those buttons will run!! That's silly. The phone is supposed to be locked.

And finally, it is way too easy to de-activate the lock. You just push the Jog-Dial in. Anyone picking up the phone is bound to prod the Jog Dial and thereby gain access to your phone. They should have made de-activation a bit more tricky e.g. Jog Dial Up, Down, Push.

Thanks for the info on the install... The error just didn't sound like one I wanted to ignore!

Its too bad that the software isn't up to speed. It sounds like a good idea. Maybe the developer can fix some of the things you noticed...

Try this software. It ain't perfect but it doesn't activate the screen when you touch it (it still clicks if not on silent) and there's a trick to unlocking it so someone who doesn't know the phone wouldn't be able to do it. (Jog dial up, down, in)

Screen Lock

question on the security of screencover.

what if i take out the batt of the P800, then restart the phone, supposing no PIN code request was present at startup..
would screencover still be of use?

I don't think you would even need to do that- just hold power for 10 secs then power it up again.

it is faster to take the batt out, then hold the power button for 10 secs.
there is a sreensaver device lock (built-in for P800) anyway. what's the diff with screencover?
