I have just bought a bluetooth handsfree to the car, and a charger to the car. I have set the phone to always light when it's in the car, but it dosen't why?

I used to have a nokia 8310 with a cheap car kit called the PPH-1 this charged the phone and another plug used the hands free socket, this phone must of made the ussumption that as it was being charged and was using hands free that is was being used in a car and you were able to select the car preferences to light on and it stayed on all the time it was plugged in.
