OK, my GSM operator just introduced this long-awaited GPRS service.
However, I have problems with its settings, and with coupling my SE P800 with my Pocket PC (iPAQ H3850).

According to the settings my operator provided, here is what I have:
1. Remote access number: *99# or *99***1#
2. APN: internet
3. TCP/IP settings: Get IP-address automatically, Get DNS automatically
4. Modem strings: AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet" or CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"

As for the Pocket PC, the instructions were pretty straightforward, (in fact, I was taken through the setup process step-by-step).
The problem I have is with my Sony Ericsson P800.
How do I set up GPRS on it?

OK, I go to Internet accounts, New, name it "GPRS", and then in Advanced Settings, what should I enter?
Under Advanced Settings I have several bookmarks:
1. Server (User name and password; Address)
2. Log in (Get IP automatically; Get DNS address automatically);
3. Proxy (Use proxy server;
4. Other (Enable PPP extentions; Authentication)

I can't figure out where I should enter the word "internet", and what is APN (well I know it stands for Access Point Number, but no more than that...). Should I insert "internet" in the Server-Address field, or elsewhere?

With my Pocket PC set up according to the instructions from my provider (as I mentioned above, it was pretty straightforward, so I will skip the sequence here), and my P800 [supposedly] set up, when I try to connect the PPC to the mobile phone through Connections-Internet Settings on my Pocket PC, I get this message:
Resource: GPRS;
User name: [empty]
Password: [empty]
Domain: [empty]
Save password
OK
Cancel

Where should I enter my "internet" word here? Is it my Domain, or my User name, or am I completely mistaken?

Any thoughts are appreciated!

Going by your statement that your provider just introduced the long-awaited GPRS service, I take it that you are not from the Philippines. My best bet is to go to Sony Ericsson official site. There, you can have them send to you via OTA (Over the Air) settings just by choosing your region, provider and phone model. This service is free.

Hope this helps.

yes, on the P800 the address field in the advanced tab is the place for APN. For same reason they decided not to call it APN on P800 but its called APN on all other SE phones that can do GPRS!

I would also drop the dial string as that seems to be a problem too. Have a look at this thread in which I was involved in helping someone else, although not on P800, but the principal is the same and I applied it to my P800 when I had one and it worked fine.

TO: jamba & masseur

Thanks guys! I can now go to the Internet from my P800, which is good! Wap seems to be working correctly.
Haven't tried to pair the phone with the iPAQ as per masseur's instructions, will try as soon as there is some spare time.
Wasn't able to get MMS working, but it is a matter of time I think.
As for this OTA service from Sony Ericsson, I should give it a try.

Thanks again!
