Today my T610 passed on to a better place. I tried calling the emergency services (the sony ericsson uk call centre - 08705 237 237) but there was no answer after 15mins - they must have been busy with
something else
(and Orange have sneakily removed 0870 numbers from inclusive mins on their newer tariffs..
). After frantically trying to defibrillate my baby using my own charger, I knew I needed expert medical advice - and logged on to Esato. I
read about (thks Jammers!) a
centre in south london, Fleet Mobile Communications in New Eltham - looked them up on
www.yell.com, called to confirm they were
capable and booked in for instant surgery...
Would we make it on time???
It was really easy to get there via London Bridge (less than 20 minutes on the train) and only 5 minutes up the road from the station, and cradling li'l T610 in my arms I rushed straight in. I was told "come back in 20 mins" - though I wanted to go into the surgery too.
Difficult as this time was for me, I sought support--- Go up the road to the station - hang a right and you come across a pub called
The Beehive. I mention this in case any other Esatini find themselves visiting this SC. You see, New Eltham is quiet - apart from boy-racers in their souped-up Clios (c'mon, it's a girls name, a girls car, ain't no paint job/ alloys/ wing on the back gonna change that) etc. It is - the 'burbs', nice, but, well, quiet. My point is you may get a little bored, so I present you with a decent pub that has Sky Sports, a pool table and a good range of beers
, and a quaintly rural pricing system - my pint was £2.21. Can you imagine fishing around for coppers every time you served someone in a central London pub?.
Back at the SC the prognosis was bleak I'm afraid. They could not revive her, so air-ambulanced my baby to
General Hospital where top surgeons are standing by to try a new experimental procedure...
I returned and was gonna stop at London Bridge and go and take some pictures of david
blaine for you with my faithful T68i, but my travelcard wouldn't let me off there.. Did a couple of random
jacks (and 'Phils', next time my connection shalt not fail me, I will catch you too
muahahah!!)
Anyway the moral of the story is search on Esato and ye shall find, the people at Fleet were really quick and helpful, it's really easy to get there from London Bridge even if as most Londoners you've never heard of new Eltham, and that whenever you tell someone where there is a drop-in
SC - post a pub review as well !!
I miss u T610!!
(and I only cancelled my orange care last month!!
)
Yours,

still no word... I'm afraid - they said it could be up to ten days before she comes round.
I have spent over £200 on orange care over the years and only ever needed one replacement (the T68i I have is actually brand new - i broke the joystick off the last one) so i figured i didn't need cover any more - dumbass. Their next day replacement is so much better than waiting...

UPDATE:
So I called Fleet, they told me T610 had been sent to celestica (no surprise), called celestica to find out what's going on. waited over 40 minutes on the phone, and just said look i want my phone back. Will gladly pay orange for next day replacement than deal with that shoddy outfit, who were quoting a 3 WEEK turnaround time. If orange care wasn't so good I would definitely think twice before buying an
phone in the UK.
Thing is, the same problem could easily happen again, and again. 1 year warranty - what proportion of that can I expect the phone to be in my hands???
My two lessons: I shall be re-subscribing to orange care again, thanks 4 bailing me out, and NEVER again deal with this company who keep you on hold for over 40 minutes before ascertaining why ur calling.
UK should reconsider their business partners or face losing loyalty from customers less tolerant than the hog.
