OK folks,
I'm posting this because I want some sympathy. If anyone has any tips to help me fix this phone then that's a bonus.
You know when you do something stupid when you are drunk? Well on Saturday night I fell into a river. Luckily I was fine, however, my T610 was in my pocket. I stripped it down on Sunday morning and left it to dry. Put it back together last night and when I turn it on practically nothing happens. Screen comes on slightly but nothing appears on it (it sort of illuminates). Then nothing.
I don't know what to do. I guess that's what you pay insurance for eh? What makes it worse. I'd managed to find the phone on pay as you go for £40 cheaper than in the shops. Now I have £50 excess on it, innit.

Well. Its too late now, but you actually dont have to dry it, the opposite. You should put it on an air conditioner or something cold. If you dry it then it ruins the phone, so i read

water damaged phones rarely recover and when they do its only for a limited time. I should know having lost 4 phones so far in my family to water. 2 didn't start again, 1 lasted a further month and 1 last ed 3 more months but they all died eventually.
I was at a garden party on Saturday and water started getting sprayed around but as drunk as I was I still had the presence of mind to take my T610 off and put it somewhere safe which was just as well because 10 mins later I got dunked in the pool!

I think I did as much as I could to try and rescue it, but it was too late. I pulled the battery within an hour and completely stripped it down in 12 hours.
I do wonder why the screen illuminates but that's it.
I might put it on charge and see what happens.

You would sell a phone that you know to be broken???
My respect for you has made a sudden drop!
Also........ do NOT charge unless you are 100% sure there isn't any water left anywhere!!
If it's even suggesting it may still be wet... you do not want to charge.

Vlammetje, I have no intention of selling the phone on knowing full well that it is knackered. I'd never rip some poor soul off like that. I have just seen a couple of posts in the past where people have offered cash for water damaged phones.
My brother had a 6210 a couple of years ago. The screen was mashed. My brother in law had a phone blocked a few weeks later. I made 1 working phone out of the two.
I may leave it a couple more days before trying to charge it then. I'll also strip it down completely again and look for any damage. Maybe I can bypass corrosion on the board if there is any. Would be nice to put a fresh screen in it and see if it works. But when I get the new phone I have no intention of pulling the lid!!
