Hi,
do you think that SE release, a software upgrade for P800, with UIQ 2.1 (p810/900 OS) ?

There isn't really anything from stopping

centres from upgrading uiq to uiq2.1. UIQ2.1 runs on Symbian 7 platform, and we all know what OS our P800's run on......
So in theory, and hopefully in practice, I'd have thought it would be possible.

I heard that also...
That would for me be the reason NOT to buy the P810
if the sw will come on the P800.
With Nokia they are doing the same... I can upgrade my 3650 sw for that of the 6600. So why wouldn't

do?

couldn't agree with you rmore nils.
IF the P800 can be upgraded, then I reckon you're very very nearly close to a P810 anyway!

sure jmh, but if the p800 can be upgraded after the launch of he p810 (3or 4 months), SE give a nice service to our consumers...

I'm only guessing but I think SE will allow P800 users to upgrade to the new software. Take a look at the T68 and the T68i... I think this situation is similar.

right [Serge], but i hopefully that the problem aren't any hardware limitations of p800....

Weather or not SE allow it, I'll see if I can't get one of my contacts at Symbian to do it. I had a chat with a colleague and he said it should be possible since the two version should be binary compatible, but my only worry is the connection to the hardware layer. It alld epends on how much difference there is between the P800's innards and the P810.
If it works, I'll let you know
