I've read a bit about dust under the screen (it lights up bright white once it's there!). I'm fine at present, but my T68i became unusable in sunlight after 6 months, so I'm worried that the P800 may not be too well sealed.
Can one of the brave individuals who has dissassembled their P800 please provide a guide to getting into the screen for when we need this info. The guide should be very explicit on how to take each cover off without pulling in the wrong place and snapping lugs.

Any idea what to search on?
Disassemble: 0 hits
take apart: 115 irrelevant hits
dismantle: 1 hit from a guy also looking for guides on how to dismantle - but he also found nothing

If you try to clear your screen of the dust, You just fill your screen with more dust exept you have a perfect enviroment with no dust at all
so i say this to you dont even try it!!!And i know what im talking about cause i try it first not me of course but i give my phone to sony eric and they return it with more dust and after this they change my screen and again more dust is under it.So i give up and stay with it.

PS.I the problem is so great then give them the phone to clear the dust for you and then when they return it with more dust demand to change the screen as i did lol

i found those dust specks annoying. So i pulled apart my p800 and took a real close look at the screen. turns out that the screen is composed of 3 layers, there is the actual display then a thin light diffuser and then the touch sensitive panel. They are all put together in a rubber mount. unfortunately the diffuser being smaller is not sealed edge to edge and the dust creeps around the outside panel its worst in the middle of the left and right sides. there you can actually see that there is no sealing whatsoever. so i got a can of pressurized air which i use on my computer and stuff to clear out dust. its is just pressurized flouroethane. sprayed a little on one side, viola!!! the dust specks move... sprayed the crap out of it... and now no dust annoying me

You will need a t8 torx driver and be patient!!! the housing assembly has some pretty interesting fastening tabs inside that you cant see, i ended bending one of them, but no prob the screws are really what holds its together.

hopefully this helps.

prodjsxb, please please provide an explanation as to how to dismantle the phone step-by-step without breaking lugs. Where to slide, where to pull, and when to lever the tab out then pull. Thanks in advance man.

there's plenty of topics about it...

use: remove cover, cover removal, dust under screen (...), etc. and you'll find everthing you're looking for! I've just tried it, so if I can do it you should be able to... don't ya?

well first you will need to remove the "blue part of the housing" above the camera, you will notice that there is two tiny grooves on each side, there you can use a small sharp object just to lift the tab, pull out gently and that side will pop off, you will see the tab that holds it behind the cam, repeat for other side then bezel will pop right off. I used a t8 to undo the screws dont worry, unlike nokia SE didnt put any sticker to block them off. there is only four. Then on the bottom of the phone back left side i pried just using my fingers gently and the two sides of the housing popped apart, thats how i found out about the tabs (my curious nature). i am sure there is another way to do that, but i never bothered to check. now if you spread the housing alittle you will be able to pop of the circuit board, dont worry about the connectors SE was smart enough to design them to automatically come together when you close the housing. then you will see the screen back, all you have to do is push gently from the outside on the screen and it will come out. now you will see that the screen is held together by a metal frame, there are little tiny fingers all the way around, be gentle VERY GENTLE DAMMIT!!! and carefully pry them so as to release them all the way around, the bottom will be a little trickier, now you will see able to separate the lcd part and the rubber piece. do not try to pry the glass off the rubber. you will see on the inside of the glass panel the diffuser. PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS IF YOU HAVE JUST EATEN FRIED CHICKEN OR SOMETHING!!! you do not want to get grease on these parts. Also do not have any fans going. now you will able to spray the inside of the panel aiming at the groove you will see what i am talking about once it is apart. all you have to do is hold it with a bright light behind and you will be able to see where the dust is and track your progress. reverse the process to assemble again, be sure to keep note of how everything was aligned and please be careful, I hope this helps you... i just tried this cuz i was bored and it worked out. if you have never seen the inside of a cell phone before then please dont try this!!! remember not to use any cleaning agents on the inside of the panel, it will scratch very easily, it is made of plastic. only pressurized air in a can, no blowing on it wont help. too much moisture and not enough pressure.

alternatively you can also try the can without pulling apart the display, just spray like made only on one side as the sealing isnt that good and you will see where the rubber spreads apart, doesnt work as well thats why i pulled apart the display. Please be care full when putting the display together any excessive pressure and you will crack the display... then you are royally screwed!!!

Good Luck!!!
