GPRS, WAP, MMS and Email setup
> MMS through gprs?
Bookmark topic
I heard from a friend that you can send MMS messages through the GPRS option on your phone. And seeing as Orange wap is for free an the moment then i assume the messages would be free. I tried changing the wap profile from MMS to GPRS in the picture messaging menu but the messages kept on failing to send. Anybody got any ideas how to get this to work? Also which 'Connect using' option is best to use for receiving emails, i have not been able to get it to work?
Thanx in advance!!
PS check out
www.T610archive.com you can download ringtones to your PC in groups of 100

You need to understand that Orange has two (or is it three) different "profiles" (called APN's) used to access the internet from your phone.
"orangewap" is the one that is free atm (for some/new accounts). This APN only allows access to WAP pages through the WAP browser.
"orangeinternet" is the APN that allows access to the rest of the internet including email. THis is NOT free and has to be paid for as a package.
I believe that there is another APN (orangemms) that is used for MMS - once again this has to be paid for and is charged per message.
Someone correct me if I have got this wrong!!

Knowing orange your probably right. I know my phone 02 only has 2 settings, 1 for gprs and 1 for gsm. I haven't sent any mms messages yet so i honestly don't know the answer. I suppose I'll have to send some to find out.

Ya there are APN for each kind of conection.
Here in Peru we have MMS for free but only for "new consumer". Now I want to know those settings before free service ends.

Wouldn't it be pointless getting the settings? After all your service provider would notice that your not a new customer.

mm could be... but why operator is restricting this? TIM offers MMS "pre-configured" in new phones with the option of "ask" the settings if users delete them. It's too suspicious.

Unfortunatly you've worked out that some companies like to rip off there customers. The free mms offer is to attract new customers, that throws up the question if they can offer it for new customers what about us? It would be pointless getting the settings, after all even if it did work, you'd end up saying when you got caught. Obviously not knowing if you have pay and go or contract only but thought about gettin a new phone just for these messages? Then when the offer stop out just throw the sim card away
