I bought my P800 about 4 months ago second hand from a guy. The phone was on orange but i had it unlocked so i could use a VF chip in it. Now... 4 months after i bought it its been blacklisted so the phone can no longer b used for making and recieving calls!!
Apparently the guy i bought it off cancelled his phone contract. I think this maybe why its nor barred.
I need advice on -
Is there anyway I could get someone from Orange to Un-Blacklist my phone?
Is there a way or anyone who could change the IMEI number of my phone?
Has anyone got a busted up P800 that I could buy so perhaps I could use the inners of it which would have a diff IMEI number?
Will the phone work anywhere else other than the UK? If it does maybe I could sell it to someone abroad.
Other than that - how much is it worth for parts?
Thanks 4 ur help in advance.....

A blacklisted phone will not work anywhere in the world
A phone is usually blacklisted when it's stolen. I have never heard of a phone beeing blacklisted because of a contract termination. (Usually the phone is locked for the duration of the contract, and then unlocked to be used freely anywhere in the world)
If the phone is indeed stolen, you will not be able to get it un-black listed.
It is possible to change IMEI to get the phone to work again. (Blacklist depends on IMEI number)
It is illegal to change the IMEI number.

I am a little confused as to why it took them 4 months to black list the phone tho!
Anyway, wrath000 is right. It must be a stolen phone

It's possible the guy reported it stolen, to get a new one on insurence

Dunno what couldve happened. All are possible. 4 months is a long time tho.
So about having the IMEI changed... I kno its illegal... but if i wanted it done (for educational purposes of course!!) - where would I go or how do I go about doin so. How much would it cost about?
Thank you all for your help.

Pop round to your local Police Station and report the M*thaf*cker for selling you a stolen phone.
He goes to jail and you get to be an honest law-abiding citizen (instead of contemplating an illegal act).
There you go, problem solved!

wrath000... is that correct? cannot use blacklisted phone anywhere in the world? I have not seen such agreements and indeed it was only last year that Telstra, the main telecoms company in Australia, started doing this.
Here are a couple of articles about them...

In theory all the telecom providers are supposed to comply with the blacklist, however like any international agreement it has it's holes... If there are networks that don't comply, I am sure their number will decrease...
