Hi peeps,
I recently emailed SonyEricsson regarding the use of Duo Pros with our beloved handsets... here is the correspondence...

S
ony Ericsson Customer Care Centre, Case : 40244035

Dear Sir/Madam,
I currently own a SonyEricsson P800 (with current Firmware Installed) and would like to know whether it is capable of effectively recognising, reading and writing to a Memory Stick Duo Pro (anything above 128mb e.g. 256mb & 512mb).
Will it recognise and utilise the extra memory?

If not, will this be possible with newer Firmware?

Thankyou in advance for your help.

Regards,

***** ********

And they replied...

Sony Ericsson Customer Care Center

Dear Sir,

Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre.

This will not due to the Pro Duo Stick is not compatible with the p800.

The only memory stick that is compatible is the normal memory stick duo, the largest memory being the 128mb.

Please contact the Sony Ericsson Customer Care Centre again if we can assist you further.

Kind Regards,
Katrina Pownall

TooMuch.. I don't think they'll answer regarding a product that is not available yet... they (usually) only give support for products that are already on the market.

Typical answer from CS.

Ask her what she mean by normal MSDuo? Is it MSA-Series, MSG-Series, or MSH-Series.

If she say MSA-Series, then you said to her that there is no 64MB and 128MB for MSA-Series

If she say MSG-Series, then you said to her that the MSG-Series is going to be discontinued.

Then she will confirm that what she mean by normal MSDuo is MSH Series

Then Explain to her that MSH and MSX(DuoPro) both has the same interface why P800 work with MSH and not the DuoPro

Then she is going to mention 128MB limit. After that you email her P800 March WhitePaper and then she will get confused and shut up.

That was basically what's happening to me.

You have to point a gun at his/her head when asking the question. Then tey will answer properly.

Well, the only way we will truly know is when some rich guy buys one just to test it

In the meantime, I'm no longer gonna wait for the 256/512 Duo Pro on the off-chance it will work - i'm gonna take the plunge and invest in a 'normal' 128mb duo

Sony Just released a digital camera and a video camera that uses the Pro Duo. But I dont think you get a Duo Pro with it?? I am not too sure. But have a look!

But Sage says he has seen it work.

SONY did realesed new camera's.....? No, they presented them !
It will take another 2-3 mounths before it will be available in a shop.. like always !

i think sagem is just fantasing and dreaming it was true... no one did get a MS Duo Pro till now, not even the research team from SE Switerland and Sweden. And believe me, they always are the first to know
