> Unable to send email but can receive?
Bookmark topic
Am wondering if anyone else has had the same problem. Am on R1D of firmware.
Using GRPS I can receive email on two entirely different POP3 email accounts but cannot send. I've tried all of the different configuration options in the settings boxes (such as authentication etc) but to no avail. It just tells me that it could not send the messages.
Any ideas?

set your outgoing server (SMTP) to the one provided by your mobile phone carrier. You generally cannot use the one from your ISP.

Hmm... Didn't know it was provider-specific (as it doesn't work this way when I use different dial-ups on my PC) - normally as long as I authorise reception of emails it will send them as well as it knows I am an authorised user (and not a spammer).
Anyone know what Orange's SMTP server (in the UK) is so I can test this?

...and by posting your specifc phone/service provider/POP3 details, you might even get a direct answer. Additionally,
this thread or
this link may well contain the SMTP server information you need...
Steven.

Because you are using the SMTP server provider's dial-up service (and thus paying them).

See above (top)...

Thanks for this!
With reference to the dialup, this is actually incorrect. Both of the accounts will send and receive from any internet connection, although I do know that there are certain ISPs that will only allow you to send email if you are connected to their dialup service.

orange smtp=193.35.131.155
reason been email is going via there server to main email server hence the fact you have to use there smtp to send mail

Well, the IP address posted earlier did the trick. I didn't bother ringing Orange as I knew I'd get an answer here quicker and didn't fancy listening to music on hold for a while, but in their defence every time I have called them they've been very helpful and accurate! (I think this thread is rapidly going to turn into an Orange slagging thread now!

)

Always had a good service from Orange, always top notch. Biggest problem they have is that some of their staff seem illiterate.
