I have searched through previous posts regarding the t610 phone and email settings, just a few questions if some kind soul could possibly help me, thanks in advance.
Do you need GPRS in order to use email or is GPS ok ?
I have tried the sonyericsson site to send email details to my telephone, whilst they are sent I can not access my email server, this is virgin of which I have a 24/7 account, I can connect to the internet using the vodafone data account, but not access my emails,
Using outlook my pop3 and smtp are as follows mail.virgin.net for both, however the sony site sends me a pop.virgin.net and an smtp.virgin.net, these don't work, I have also changed them to mail.virgin.net and these don't work, maybe it's a virgin thing, does anyone have the settings for virgin ?
many thanks

Well I know that to pull down third party email you need an internet access point and not a GPRS access point. For vodafone, in my case, you need GPRS for wap and an internet access point for data transfer (emails, gps tracking, etc.).
You could try checking the pop3 settings of virgin on a pc. Try getting outlook or similar to pull them down, if that's working transfer it over. Also check with virgin that you have the internet access and not just gprs.
Hope this helps.

You can use GPRS or GSM (not GPS which is sattelite navigation!) to perform your email operations.
I would set the pop3 (incoming server) to the same as you use in outlook and the SMTP (outgoing server) should be set to smtp.vizzavi.co.uk
the fact that you say you can connect to the internet but cannot send or receive mail suggests you are using the GPRS WAP data account and not the GPRS internet data account.
So. create a new data account and the only value you need is APN set to internet. Change your email account to "connect using" this new data account and try again. You may need to check with vodafone that they have enabled you for GPRS internet because this is different to GPRS wap and requires separate activation.

Well all I know is you should have a pop3 email account. Get all the settings needed for that account. Connect using the gprs settings. But you have to use the 'internet' as the apn. This setting charges you per kb. Free GPRS connections doesnt work...well here in us doesnt

i am in france and i need the settings from my sfr operator. They know dick, as usual, and allthough i am familliar ith the operations i cant get the settings from them..still talking to customer service everyday and everyday they find all kinds of excuses and (wrong) solutions..can u imagine? The last problem is that everytime i try to acces the wap, to send mms or email thru the email client i get " wrong APN !" with the settings done by the book ITH an SFR operator!!!Whatta hell is happening cuz they dont know! Can it be a soft bug or something?
PS: even when they sent the MMS setting thru OTA (over the air installment, done automaticlly) is NOT working! wrong APN its says!
