then you would need to change the firmware as well.... but you will probably have a hard time finding a camera that you can use in P800

No. It is not possible to do this at all. Hardware is hardware is hardware. Firmware upgrades will not improve the overall physical capabilities of the hardware.

I think that you are seriously wasting your time.
If you want a decent digital camera - buy one! The P800 is not, and never will be one. Even if the P810 materializes, what good in reality is a 1.3MP camera, without flash, or the sophisticated capabilities that a dedicated digital camera can provide....?!
