> Restore failed after upgrade
Bookmark topic
I just got my phone back after upgrade. When trying to restore the phone it fails after 30% is done.
I then updated to PC Suite 1.5.1. Same error.
I then tried restoring just the D: drive, and even that failed to. Even after a reformat of the D: drive I couldn't restore it.
Between every try I have made a "master reset" in the settings panel.
Any ideas? I have seen here that one can rename the backup file to .zip and then pick the most important bits, but it seems hard to restore "missing calls", all SMS's stored etc etc.
The error message btw is "the computer and the unit is no longer connected, connect the unit and try again". Now after changing USB port this happend after 40% was backed up. Argh.

Sorry to hear about your problems. I did quick serach on Esato for previous posts on this issue. If you have not done so, why not try to look for information using serach. Here is an interesting I found, have a look it might help->

Well, I have searched for information about this issue. And I have read about renaming the backup files to .zip. I thought I stated this in my first post at the top.
I have tried removing the D: card as well well without luck.

Here some posters are saying that the original version of PC Suite that comes with the CD can cause corrupt back-ups. Also one suggestion is to format the internal drive, which I think is different from a reset. Have a look here ->
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=24010&forum=35#post321176 and in this thread
http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=32653&forum=35#post452376 there is information how to selectively restores diffcult files such as the contacts database. Good luck.
Also found this really good explanation of how to restore manually at
www.my-symbian.com, this is really good ->

There is also another explanation: The new firm-ware upgrade is "larger" than the original. It takes up more space on your phone. Therefore the restore fails because it cant "fit" the data correctly.

Jah and Rayden:
Thanks for your help.
I tried it over and over again without resetting, and for the third time it actually worked. Both C and D.
Thanks again.

I had the same problem two week ago after the phone upgrade.
P800 crash and after reboot the device found corupt files so re-format the internal.
Restore of any previous backup it isn't possile.
The solution for me was to download the latest language packet from sony ericsson site.
After that backup was running fine.
