Sorry to have to ask the following:

I'm converting an avi file, which is originally 40mb, to an mp4 file, using mpegable.

Having followed the setting suggestions given by many on here, once the file is converted tp mp4 it is coming up at 24mb. Is there anyway to shrink it down to approx 15mb - just so that I can fit it onto my duo.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I flippin give up!

I downloaded several episodes of southpark and simpsons (avi files) in the hope that Id be able to convert them to MP4's.

I have 3 conversion packages on my PC - PV Author, MPEGABLE, and movie maker. And can you believe it...not ONE of these packages managed to convert the avi's into mp4's.

I strictly followed the settings that have been given several times on other posts - and stilll nothing!

On mpegable, it plain and simple does not recognise the avi's!

On PV author, it only picks up audio (I did try to set it to audio and video, but it just failed to pick up the video!)

As for movie maker - well this thing did manage to convert something... what exactly I do not know, but when the converted file is played back alll I get is some kinda screeching sound??? Oh, and the entire file size is only 350kb (should have sussed by that that something werent right!!!)

Please, any suggestions, advice etc I need to watch something at work to pass the time

I have no problem converting avi using mpegable
Is the avi your trying to convert corrupted

You also say that you have successfully converted an avi to 24mb so it obviously works
Try dropping audio from 32 kbits to 24 or 16 kbits but the sound will suffer
Or drop the total bitrate from 150 to 140
And framerate to 8.5 as 12.5 seems more jerky

Cheers Welsh.

I'll try those suggestions tonight.

In case they dont work, does anyone know where I can download Southpark MP4's, or similar?

Ive be to Raven02, and have downloaded some simpsons, but unfortunately they do not fit onto a 16mb duo (Im waiting for the 256's!)

Or if anyone can email me anything they've downloaded that would be very much appreciated.
