> ogg files as ringtones

I've done a search and I can't find anything that answers my question.
I've installed OggPlay and a couple of .ogg files. These play fine in the player but is there any way that I can use these files as my ringtones?
I've tried changing the file extension to .wav following the advice from another forum but when I tried to play them I just get a 'playback error' message.
Is there anything that I've overlooked or something else I need to do?

you cant have .ogg files as a ringtone.. and converting them to wav isnt as simple as changing the file extension.

I thought so. I've got an mp3 converter that will convert to wavs but as you'll know, wav's aren't exactly the smallest of file types!
Logic did suggest that just changing the file extension wouldn't work - but I thought I'd give it a try anyway - if only it was as simple as changing the file extension, life would be sooo much easier!!
Anyway, thanx for the help.
