hey guys,

i just bought a serial cable off ebay and its works for gfx and outlook sync. but when i try to transfer midi ringtones to the cell phone, it does transfer but no sound is played when someone calls. i made sure that that the file exists on my phone and there the filesize wasn't 0. i used send file 2.02 to send the file. what is it that i am doing wrong ?

thanks alot!

the first thought that comes to mind is that you have the phone set to silent? but I guess that would be too obvious

no, its not.

actually when a new calls comes in, instead of the new ring tone i downloaded, it plays the default one.

Have you done the 13 second trick to your phone? I did it to my t300 and what ever ring tone i selected it would only use the default. This message was posted from a T300

I've seen this asked before, no one has ever found solution for this (as far as I know). Last time someone aproached me with such problem, it turned out that it was actually not MID but MP3 files.

What happened was this:
This person was looking for some MIDI ringtones. As you know, most poly ringtones sites sell the ringtones, but allow you to preview them. When you preview them, you get an MP3 file, which sounds like a ringtone and can be played on the PC. However it can not be played on the phone.

...so I guess my question to you is, are you sure that it's indeed MID files, and not MP3s (perhaps renamed to mid?) you are trying to use?
