> Want Quad band phone!
Bookmark topic
So now the US is rapidly adding 850MHz GSM base stations... We need Quad-band GSM phones (800/1800/1900/850)! Tri-band was great for us roamers but now we've hit some significant limitations.
Anyone know if there's any technical difficulties? Any plans for SE to bring out such a beast?

I saw a Quad-band phone a while back. Aint heard of an

one but there is a Motorola V600 and NEC 515.
Althou I read Quad-band doesnt support GSM 450 (Is that available anywhere?), so maybe we will see Pent-Band phones in future?!
Maybe that world trip of a lifetime will have to be put on hold for u roamers out there just a while longer!
Althou if ur that desperate to keep in touch, I guess u could get a satellite phone?

450 band?
where the hell is dat used?
also 900 does the trick for 850 like 99% of the time..
is there anywhere that only supports 850?

Once the 850 network is fully implemented, there will be more and more quad band phones.
Motorola has one for sure.....
450 band is a joke fij

Not really.
First we want the 850 mhz network to be fully built and well established... so that manufaturwers will be 'forced' to include it on their phons without asking extremely high prices for it

the Treo 600
uhm, as for 850, I'll ask again
is there anywhere that actually uses 850 as it's only band?
I thought 450 was a joke, it isnt a frequency high enuff for good audible sound quality

If I'm not mistaking, the NMT 450 network is not as good as GSM when it comes to voice quality, but the cover-range is way pass GSM(compared that is..). In many countries, you can still use a NMT phone where GSM signals isn't able to reach the phone(due to weather condtions and stuff like that) ..but anyways, I'm not sure of this info..Just something I think I've heard somewhere for a long time ago..So the NMT isn't just crap..
