If I use my p800 built in internet browser GPRS connects and works fine, but, if I try and use the GPRS in opera browser, worldmate, mobile emule or any other application nothing happens, will it starts the GPRS and that’s about all??? If the P800 is docked all these apps happily use my PC’s connection? Could someone please help me, its most annoying.

Almost certainly you are connecting with the data account which has account name of wap.vodafone.co.uk rather than the data account which has account name of internet.
if you have not got that one set up then just create a new data account with account name internet (no other settings needed) and you should be fine though you may have to contact vodafone to get them to activate the internet GPRS since it is different from GPRS wap.

Go here
www.vizzavi.co.uk/uk/index.html
Click on instant wap setup pick P800 and it will give you the gprs settings step by step with a walkthrough on how to configure P800

no! it sounds like he already has wap GPRS setup but he needs internet GPRS.
if you have created the internet data account then you need to make sure those progs you mentioned are connecting using that data account. you can do that by either setting it as the default account or tick the box that means it will prompt you at each connection which data account you want (as I recall since its been a few months since I had a P800)

it prompts me which account i want to use whan i try to connect, it starts the gprs globe thing, it flashes fore a while, but then does nothing... the vodafone-GPRS account works for the p800's own browser, but not anything else!

ok then it might be worth a call to vodafone, as I mentioned, in order to check if they have activated GPRS internet on your account which they don't normally seem to do when they activate GPRS wap.

This sounds like the same problem I am having but I am on O2, could you tell me if you sorted it out in the end, and if you did how did you do it?
Thanks

Just to add that I had this problem for months with vodafone. There tech support people ar open 24 hours though so i gave them a call and they sorted it. took them about 48 hours to sort it but then they sent me a text message and i tried again and it all worked.
So much better being able to use opera!
