nah not impossible, the current java implementation doesnt allow sockets which is what you would want to use really, but you could quite easily create a irc http gateway, this is how the icq, msn, etc clients fo the t610 work, however it is quite costly because the program would have to keep checking the server to see if there are any updates. there are even a few wap irc gateways if you can find em.

You can't use http gateways for IRC, IRC requiers uninterrupted TCP connection.
...or you can, but it would be very tricky, and generate a lot of traffic for the gateway. Most IRC servers wouldn't allow such connections to be created either...

i created an wap irc gateway on my server, just refreshes the page every 30 seconds. the server stays connected to the irc server just like a normal irc client does, and generates wap output.

Yeah, but the PING! PONG! 's are useless, everyone looks like a "clone", and there is one h*ll of a latency... sort of defeats the purpose of IRC
...and like I said before, not all networks will allow clones...
