The Swedish business paper "Dagens Industri" today writes a story abour SonyEricsson and Sony's development of a digital-TV chip that is as big as a thumb nale and will be incorporated in to PDA's and cell phones. Så SE will most probably have a phone next year with built in digital TV. Problem is that the Tv needs an external antenna which they think they would be able to put in the ear phone cord, and prob. nr. 2 that it draws much bateyr power. But acording to Sony the chip won't be so power consuming compared to existing devices with built in TV.

TV on PDA I can understand because the screens can be watched quite reasonably for some length of time but TV on mobile phones is just crazy. Mobile phones are ok for short clips but not for 30 mins+ TV programs

Actually it might be a nice idea to integrate a TV tuner in a PDA, but again, compromises must be taken, waste of battery, expensive, and still, its the first generation, so bugs may be discovered

yeah I said it would be fine for short stuff, just no good for normal tv progs. tv is tv and I am sure there will be people who want to watch movies or episodes of their fav progs
